Dog Point Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2015 - Withmywine

Dog Point Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2015

All in all it’s a great New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, and it’s received 90 or higher points from pretty much all the wine critics.

The Good Stuff

The aroma of this sauvignon blanc is lovely with notes of fruit like pineapple and melon with a hint of earthy mineral as well.

The light crisp and refreshing flavor makes you want to drink it all the time.

The Bad Stuff

It does reach into that over $20 range, but sometimes that’s totally worth it.

We seriously could not find harsh words written about this Sauvignon Blanc. Enjoy!

Wine Critics

A wine that is full of excitement, showing an array of grapefruit, lime and lemon citrus as well as gently nettly herbal notes, really fresh. The palate carries juicy white peach and nectarine flavor, very attractive wine, acid holds crunch and balance is nigh on perfect. Drink now. – James Suckling

The 2015 Sauvignon Blanc has a fragrant nose of elderflower, lavender, lemongrass and fresh herbs with hints of struck match and ground stones. Medium-bodied with a lovely satiny texture and great intensity, it has a lively acid backbone and long savory finish. – The Wine Advocate

Additional information

Flavor Profile

The wine has a great smell of tropics like pineapple, and melon with some earthy notes. Up front the flavors are light with a crisp fruit flavor and just enough acidity to let you know it’s a Sauvignon Blanc, with those subtle mineral flavors to make it complex. There’s just enough body to enjoy the texture but leaves a clean finish.

Wine Pairings

When looking for a food pairing we recommend a dish with lighter flavors like lemon or fresh herbs like thyme and basil. We found a great recipe for a lemon garlic tilapia on allrecipes.com which pairs great with the crispness of this wine to make a very refreshing meal. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/89261/lemon-garlic-tilapia/
